The Favorite Moslem is a Kinetic sculpture in which the mannequin sits, stands and waves his hand on the toy guitar on a loop. The up and down movement corresponds to audio; when the mannequin stands, the audio plays and when it sits down the audio stops. The duration of the audio is 5 seconds on loop. By the end of the exhibition, the mannequin totally breaks down, and its movement becomes anarchic to its body. The work addresses the tableau of a good Muslim that surfaces in the popular representation of Muslim identity in Indian as well as in global politics. The sound is an appropriation of a patriotic jingle and translates: "I am a true patriot and I play Sufi songs."
